Initial Conversation

A project begins with questions to determine its scope and requirements. Factors that will impact scope are the final product needs, its purpose or use, and how much client input is needed throughout the design process. If you know how a design will be used (print, posted online, used in signage) and its audience, that will give a good foundation to build on.

Proposal &
Terms of Service

Once I have enough information to determine the scope of a project I will send an email with a proposal and a request to sign the terms of service. The proposal will specify costs, timelines, and terms specific to the project. If you have questions or want to request changes to the proposal, reach out and we can continue discussions. Work will begin once the proposal has been approved in writing and the terms of service have been signed.

Proofing &
Client Input

Proofs will be sent according to the project scope and the client's desired degree of input. If proofs are required at multiple points during the creative process, the proposal will itemize each step. If a project needs to be terminated before the full work can be complete, the client will be invoiced for the steps completed and in process up to termination.

Final Deliverables

The final deliverables are the digital files that will be sent to you for your use. You can request specific file formats, otherwise I will choose file formats suited to the use described in the initial conversation. Files are sent once all proofs have been approved in writing.

Invoicing

You will receive an invoice once the final deliverables have been sent, or once a project is terminated early. Invoices are due within 30 day and can be payed online by card or by mailed check.

Pricing &
Timeline

Standard Rate

My standard rate is $60 per hour. Project costs are project hours multiplied by the standard rate. The project hours will be defined in the proposal before work is begun and will only change if approved in writing by both parties.

Project Hours

Project hours as listed in the proposal is the amount of time needed to create a satisfactory deliverable. Timelines for a project will exceed the project hours.

Timelines

The timeline is affected by the project scope, client response times, and scheduling. The proposal terms will specify a maximum amount of time from when a written response is received from a client to when a deliverable is sent. Timelines can vary with workload and scheduling, but typically the maximum amount of time needed to prepare a deliverable will be four times the project hours, to a minimum of 24 hours. Dates are not given as all timing is dependent on client response times.

Project Extensions

If more work is required to complete a project to your satisfaction, the scope can be extended. When that is the case, a new proposal will be sent specifying the additional project hours that would be included in the invoice.

If you are requesting changes to the creative content of a deliverable, additional design services may be required.
